Veneers are thin shells that can be placed over the surface of your teeth to cover cosmetic flaws. They’re made from durable, tooth-colored porcelain to ensure a stunning appearance and long-lasting results.
Dr. Aleksanyan will customize your veneers so they blend in seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. Depending on your needs, veneers can be used to treat the following:
Enhancing your smile with veneers is a quick and easy process that only requires two appointments. During your first visit, Dr. Aleksanyan will take an impression of your teeth so your veneers can be customized to match their unique appearance. She’ll also gently buff and re-surface your teeth to ensure a perfect fit.
Typically, it will take about two weeks to prepare your veneers. Once they’re ready, you can return to our office and Dr. Aleksanyan will bond them to your teeth with a strong dental resin. Finally, she’ll shine a specialized light on your teeth to solidify the bond.
The first time you visit Dr. Aleksanyan, she will take a bite cast or impression of your teeth. This, in turn, brings about the creation of self-made veneers to suit the patient’s smile. She will also smooth and reshape them to fit perfectly on your teeth.
Veneers generally take about two weeks to make in the dental laboratory. After that, you will be required to return to our clinic for the second appointment.
Dr. Aleksanyan will apply a local anesthetic to numb your teeth before the procedure, so you won’t feel any pain. You may experience some mild discomfort when your treatment is complete, but this will dissipate within a few hours.
With proper care, veneers can last for seven to fifteen years. To help extend their life, avoid habits such as biting your fingernails or chewing ice cubes.
Unfortunately, veneers are considered a cosmetic treatment so insurance rarely covers them. However, there are some exceptions depending on your specific plan and provider.
If your veneer falls out or is damaged in any way, don’t attempt to fix it yourself. Just try to store it safely and keep it clean until you can visit our office.
Veneers can be cared for just like natural teeth, with daily brushing and flossing. No special tools or cleaning solutions are necessary.
